Making Monday Matter

Fear hates community.

Whenever you engage, fear seems to subside as hope takes flight.

In my book, “You Make My Life Rich” the second principle is:

I – Invest in others

It is on that principle I am excited to announce a new addition to the blog.  I’ve created Monday Matters; a chance for you to engage and invest.  I invite you to ask questions and share your stories ask we seek to redefine what it means to be rich.  Each Monday will be dedicated to answering your questions and learning together!

Just as Seeking Saturday helps us refocus as we look back on our week through the context of God’s Word, Monday Matters will give YOU a forum to engage as you start your week.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is our collective journey is not isolated; our struggles are not unique to ourselves.  Fear tends to lead you into the belief that you are on an island, don’t let it.  When we begin to engage, we see that our struggles, hopes and dreams are all interconnected.

Share your stories and questions in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter. And, if you like the idea, you can invite others by tweeting this! (Tweet link)

This January, I’ve asked you to share with me the words you are picking this year.  You can see more about how My One Word shaped my life as I began writing.

Have you picked a word yet?

This week we have two stories:

Tyson

Tyson and I actually started the exact same day at our insurance agency and have been able to grow along together, constantly bouncing ideas off one another.    Tuesday morning, I was sitting in my office when he stepped in and closed the door.  This usually means business!

“I’ve got my word.  What do you think it is?”  He asked.

Before I could venture a guess and surprised he was even sharing with me, he said, FINISH, my word is FINISH!  I seem to have the best ideas and intentions, but in the end, they stop there.  I noticed I leave putts short and hit tennis balls into the net.  This year is going to be the year that I FINISH!

Tyson, we’ve all been there brother and recognizing is the first step!  Part of FINISHING has to do with clear goals.  Define what FINISHING looks like so you can recognize the steps needed to get there!  It’s going to be awesome!

What other encouragement do you have?

Amy

Amy Lanham blogs at www.middleofthemess.com where she uses the tagline, “finding the beautiful in the broken”.  You can check out her post on her word here.

Amy’s word RISK and story met me right where I was for a couple of reasons:

1.  You have to read her post.  She speaks of her dream to visit Prince Edward Island and it’s realization when her husband, Jason, gave it to her for Christmas.  Despite his leukemia diagnosis and the obvious challenges that presents, they are going.  Simply beautiful!

2. My church, Port City Community, has chosen the word RISK this year.  A reminder that a place of comfort doesn’t always lead to achieving God’s purposes.

As Amy writes:

“We all fail. Dreams may slip away for a time. Those individuals that succeed are simply the ones who get back up and try again.”

Thanks Amy for your encouragement!

How can I help you as we seek to understand and define what it means to live richly?
